What’s Hot?
The Academy, which closed its doors in January 2024, has been successfully preparing students for over 45 years with the ACT/SAT, and our teachers are well acquainted with all aspects of the NEW PSAT and SAT tests.
You can still take advantage of our program by working independently with one of our tutors. Most tutors are providing services at the local library, while some are willing to drive to a students’ home. Parents contract separately with the tutor of their choice. Schedule a tutorial today and improve your chances of being accepted by the college of your choice. Our teachers look forward to helping you reach your test prep goals as we are dedicated to providing a personalized learning experience which stresses test taking strategies, the review and increase of core knowledge, and practice with Real SAT tests.
Furthermore, effective literacy instruction now includes close reading with an emphasis on text dependent analysis. Our former teachers provide hands-on, skill based, and individualized support according to your child’s learning needs. Text dependent questions increase a student’s understanding through in-depth examinations that involve particular aspects of the texts. They guide students to examine specific portions of texts and provide evidence for their answers. When students learn to analyze a text’s craft and structure, they are better able to draw conclusions and support inferences across multiple texts, and they have an effective tool for analyzing all aspects
of the reading process.
Finally, observers of educational policy also see algebra as a central concern for algebra is a gateway to later achievement, and it correlates significantly with success in college and earnings from employment. A major goal for K-8 as well as high school students should be proficiency with key concepts, automaticity with the basic facts, strategic competence with problem solving, and accurate and automatic execution of standard algorithms. In addition, proficiency with fractions
(including decimals, percent, and negative fractions) is fundamental for algebra and at present these skills seem to be severely underdeveloped.
Making up for the “Covid Slide”
