Dear Parents and Students:
If thoughts were messages, you would all hear from me daily! I recognize it’s hard to embrace all that is happening in our lives and difficult to deal with so much uncertainty. I am sure parents are finding it interesting to navigate the world of teaching academic subjects to their children. I have always felt a good teaching situation requires psychological distance, and we don’t have that with our own children. I learned that very quickly when I tried to help my own children with their homework. Nevertheless I know how each of you is working hard to support your child’s education.
As of this communication, I am exploring options of tutoring on line, and I would like to know how many parents are interested in supporting this type of instruction. If you would like to consider continuing with your child’s tutor in April, please send me an email and let me know as we will make every effort to do so using Zoom or Skype as our platform. This is a new venture for the Academy, but it is one I feel may help to minimize the slippage with many of our students. I miss seeing all of their smiling faces each day and feel this effort could be a great alternative under the circumstance. I will be in touch with the teachers once I have a response from all of the parents regarding their needs.
My husband and I have been spending time at our mountain house trying to find new ways to stay connected with friends and family. Thanks to many of my parents who have kept me informed regarding local school district communications and have kept me laughing as well with their text messages. Currently it appears PA students will be returning to school on April 14th; however, this is subject to change based on guidance from the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
In the meantime, I will email future updates to you, and post them on our website and Facebook page as well. More than ever, we need to remain connected to one another. Take good care of yourselves, and stay healthy!
Sincerely,
Carolyn J. Pasanek
