If you plan to take the February 8th ACT or the March 14th SAT, begin preparing NOW by registering for a group class or a private tutorial. The Academy group classes for the March SAT test date begin on January 22nd, and run through March 11th, so students have 8 weeks to prepare for the upcoming SAT group class. Private tutorials are also available if students wish to choose their own dates and times while refining their skills.

Choosing the Right Test for You
Students often struggle as to which test to take. Since both tests are accepted by all US colleges, students should be familiar with some of the differences between the two tests and choose the one that best fits their learning style. Both tests measure a similar set of academic skills, however, they provide different approaches to the assessments.
The SAT is known to have fewer but more complex reading passages and questions, whereas the ACT has many more reading passages, but students may struggle with the fast pacing of the test as speed is critical. The best way to decide whether to focus on the SAT or ACT is to take a full length practice test on line.
Studies show that 20-30% of students show a significant difference between the SAT and ACT, however, the majority of students score equally well on both tests so oftentimes it is up to the student’s gut level instinct as to which test to take. Other differences include a science portion on the ACT, a “no-calculator” portion for one of the SAT math sections, however, calculators are permitted for the entire ACT test.
